During battle whoever has the stronger cock will win out when clashing cock to cock. But some fighters like to swing for the base where the cock is still weak and untempered. By doing so they can chop off the cock in its entirety and win the whole bout in one swift blow. Typically though, cockfights continue until one of the competitors has been exhausted or knocked out.
